What you can hold us to

- 50% on acceptance of the quote. Balance on completion, before we leave your site.

Three kilometres from the water
The rule we will not bend
We are 3 km from the water. Salt air decides more about your job than the price does. We will not quote SS201 for anything outdoors. It costs about 40% less than 304, it looks exactly the same when it goes in, and near the sea it will show rust in under a year. If you have been quoted “stainless” and the price seems good, ask which grade. If you want 201 outdoors anyway, we will build it — and we will write on the quote that you asked for it.
Small jobs, and we mean it
We are not chasing the big contracts. Here is the list of what we turn down, published rather than discovered halfway through.
- Structural steel for buildings requiring a licensed engineer’s stamp. We will tell you who to call.
- High-rise work, curtain walling, anything over three storeys.
- Jobs where we would be a sub-sub-contractor on a large site. We cannot chase payment through three companies, so we do not start.
- Hot-dip galvanising in-house — it is sent out, and it adds 5 days.
- Anodising — also sent out.
- CNC machining beyond small parts. There is a small mill and a lathe here, not a machining centre.
